Parent Support
Parenting can be difficult in any circumstance. Parenting a child or children with special needs can be tremendously challenging, and oftentimes, lonely. I am exceptionally skilled in working with parents of children of all ages (infancy through adulthood). I offer compassionate, effective help to address the unique concerns and dynamics of each family. With a background in Child Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and other evidence-based parent coaching interventions, I can help you
- improve your child’s prosocial behaviors while decreasing challenging behaviors
- teach your child skills to function more independently
- help you understand your child’s anxiety or mood difficulties and learn how to best help him/her
- help you navigate the school system, including special education services
To assist parents and caregivers best help their children (of any age), I offer the following services:
Consultation
In order to offer improved understanding of your child’s current functioning, guidance in terms of therapeutic and/or educational interventions, and the potential need for further testing, consultation may include record review, clinical interviewing, and direct observation as needed. I also offer school observations, attendance at school meetings, tours of therapeutic or educational placements, and coordination of care with other professionals, to support clients and their families when implementing the recommendations.
Parent Training & Individual Therapy
Both parent training and individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes and may be scheduled weekly or less frequently depending on the client’s needs.
